LS, Thyroid....BINGO !!!

Morning Girls, hope you are all well & coping,

WELL, well, well......I finally have some news to report, I went to the Vulva clinic about 3 weeks ago & the Dr that I saw was so lovely & helpful & very thorough. No doubt I was tested for thyroid trouble......"Hey presto" i'm under active, I think I knew this was coming. But after my recent experience of a different Doctor at my local surgery, who completely dismissed me & my concerns of possible thyroid problems, I actually feel....Yes, I knew I was right.

I now however have to go back to my GP, as for the last 7 or so years, I've been treated for an Hiatus Hernia. It may now be the case, that I don't actually have an Hiatus Hernia at all, it sounding like I have had a thyroid problem all along & basically been treated for something I don't actually have & possibly the medication I have been taking, could have triggered my LS.

So I think I can say, I now have along road ahead of me to get to the bottom of this, but I don't think I will ever get the whole truth.

Lately I've been lucky that my symptoms seem to be in "sleep" mode & haven't been suffering too much thank goodness. My Doctor has now prescribed Cetraben & I have found this quite soothing & it actually moisturizes quite well. I had to buy a small travel bottle to dispense some into as the bottle was huge, not handbag friendly at all Hahaha.

Well Girls, i'm so sorry my update is short & sweet, but as usual, up to my neck in at work, but was determined to find 5 minutes to post, Take care, best wishes to you all. & I will keep you posted. T xx

LS Sufferer... that is good that you finally have a correct diagnosis.

My clinic has tested for thyroid but I am clear. I do, however, have a number of other autoimmune diseases including Crohns and diabetes and problems with my gums.

What country do you live in...I am in Australia.

So, you are only on the emollient cetraben ... no steroid creams?

Maybe, find a better GP?

Sounds like you are feeling better with your diagnosis and support...all the best to you...

Kathleen.

Hi Kathleen,...I'm in the UK, am 46 & was diagnosed back in may with LS by my regular GP, who I have to say is great.

I went to see her again re; thyroid problems & maybe a blood test etc, but was seen by a different GP as mine had been called away. The one that I did see, was very patronizing & completely dismissed me, when I said that I have LS, she looked at me completely blankly as if she had never heard of LS.

I use Dermovate steroid cream twice a week now & now the cetraben daily as & when I need it. So I finally feel like i'm in control, I need to make an appointment with my GP, to discuss the thyroid findings & now how best to deal with them. So am keeping my fingers crossed & feeling a lot more positive today, now i'm starting to get some answers & can piece things together .

Best Wishes T xx

Just been diagnosed with LS after a year suffering! I have read that LS could be connected to thyroid (under active) which I have had for 20 years. It is suggested that due to thyroid problem it's affected my autoimmune system, any one know if there is a product that will improve the immune system to counteract this, this would be helpful to improve this , any suggestions?!!
