Hi Ladies, it's been quite a while since I last posted, Been extremely busy at work & have had very little spare time, but thought I would check in & update you on how things are with me currently.
Still using the Dermovate twice a week, my white patches have finally cleared & starting to look a little pink again, My inner labia is pretty much extinct & gone & I now find being intimate with my partner is a No Go due to my skin constantly tearing & splitting.
It's become near on impossible to use Tampons during my "Girlie Week" which I find get's me down, as having to use towels just leaves me constantly feeling dirty & generally "Yuk" . I use Cetraben to moisturize which hasn't really helped much, I have the most constant dry feeling which makes me so sore.
I overhauled my diet, have lost 1 stone, & feel it has made no difference what-so-ever, I tried to exercise as much as possible but found that made me sore also, so it's been a battle, nothing has really changed at all, I'm due to go back to the vulva clinic in March 2014.
So I'm sorry Girl's I don't have anything positive to contribute this time, but while i'm here, I would love to wish you all a very MERRY CHRISTMAS, enjoy the rest, & hopefully we will all have a happier, healthier NEW YEAR !!! & maybe a miracle cure. Best Wishes to every one of you, & THANK YOU All for your help & support that has kept me sane in 2013 & got me thru' this horrid illness, Thanks to each & every one of you, Have a wonderful Holiday Season , Best Wishes Trace xxxxx

Hi Trace,
Thanks for posting. Even disappointing news is company for the rest of us. Now that I've stopped ignoring the LS symptoms (which was my tactic for many, many years) I'm able to notice the relationship between the slightest emotional upset and flares. So, I stitch and knit and sew away and try to pay attention to both my negative internal monologue and my energy level. I can tell from my lack of psoriasis flares that I'm doing pretty well managing stress. Therefore whatever LS mess I have is unavoidable. Worrying about it is counter-productive. Case in point: my mother was worried that a bit of a rash she had might be shingles (it wasn't) – the worry gave her a few days of painful rheumatoid arthritis flare in her arm and back. As soon as she got a correct diagnosis of eczema, she relaxed and the pain disappeared.
I'm a big believer in diet influencing health. But there's a point where worrying about every molecule we eat creates undue stress. Sounds like you gave it a try and decided not to pour any more energy into that aspect of your life.
Hoping you can have the holiday season that makes you the happiest and not what everyone else expects.
It would be so good if we could identify the triggers like stress, food and drugs that make our bodies lose their balance or create the hormonal havoc that seems to result in conditions like LS and other auto immune diseases. It seems I was one of the lucky ones for me just giving up copious amounts of sugar and eating a moderate diet (nothing extreme) got rid of my LS. I think it could help people tackle the disease if some of these triggers were further investigated. I have heard auto-immumne diseases are on the rise but I have no figures to back it up. It seems like a really important area that needs to be researched anyway.
I stress a lot but luckily for me it hasn't seemed to affect my LS at all. So interesting to hear everyones stories. I hope that someone out there is taking notice and following up on what we have found.
Cheers,
Caroline
