Lubrication with dilator

Hi there - can anybody recommend a lubricant for using a dilator which won't aggravate an already worsening LS problem? I live in the UK and my appointments with dermy/gyny are quite far apart and I think I need to start using something before I close up completely. Any help or advice much appreciated.

Hi, I'm in UK and I use OPTILUBE without any problems. I get it from Amazon so I don't know if its widely available. Failing that if you have any HYDROMOL ointment that should definitely be ok, I've had great improvement really quickly using the dilators. Just take your time, relax, you're in control so no need to tense up. Good luck.

Thank you so much for quick response - here's hoping!! Glad it worked for you. Thanks again x

You're very welcome. Back in January I had the smear test from hell, it was excruciating !!! I knew I had to do something then as I NEVER want to go through that again, hence I bought the dilators. I had my annual check up last month and NO discomfort whatever when the speculum was used. I was so relieved I cant tell you. Good luck and let me know how you get on. X

Coconut oil has worked for me as a lubricant, with no ill effects.

But I haven't previously heard of dilators.  It sounds great that they work for people.  Where can you get them (UK)?

Try YES WATER SOLUBLE ITS VERY GOOD AND RECOMMENDED BY MY DERMATOLOGIST WHO SPECIALISES IN LS. YOU CAN GET ON PRESCRIPTION OR BUY ON LINE

Hi barking

YES lubrication is brilliant I use it for the dilators it's not sticky just like using water but a bit thicker.

All the best

Kay

I first used water soluable lubricant, but experienced a certain stickiness.  At present I use coconut oil which works the best for me this far.

Hi there - I just ordered from Amazon. No probs!
