Lucozade.

I use to drink a lot of Red Bull type energy drinks but cut them out when I thought they maybe contributing to the flutterings I often use to feel  in my chest. I replaced them with Lucozade  but noticed it makes me more tired and less energetic with a feeling that things around me are not real which I am feeling especially today. Just googled on the of chance about Lucozade now and I didn't realise it has caffine too and can cause anxiety and lightheadedness so wondered if anyone else has had these side effects?

Hi, I just saw this and thought I'd suggest you try "nuun" (if you want to). It's an isotonic that attempts to be natural, it does have some non-sugar sugar in it but aperantly all the flavourings are natural and there's no caffine.

It comes in loads of flavours and will probably end up been cheaper (it comes in little tabs that you dissolve in water).

Hi karoline

Anything with that much sugar and caffiene can cause these feelings of anxiety and lightheadedness. They work like adrenaline; know how you feel after a big fright - bit sick and shaky? This is what these quantities mimic.

Just thought I'd add: I personally hate drinking sweet, artificial/processed drinks but being a runner I had a few people constantly nagging me about needing to drink more than just plain water after a long run - then I found nuun and coconut water, which makes them a little happier (still not what they had in mind tho) – and I still prefer water, personally

Hi anya.rose Never heard of these so googled it and this is what it says

'nuun energy

you need a lift - nuun energy elevates your hydration

the levels of caffeine and b vitamins give you a boost, and help maintain higher levels of energy'

So it looks like It has cafine too unless there is a non caffine one. Thanks for your help anyway. Will just have to try and avoid these  type of drinks to see if it does help reduce my anxiety.

oops...missed that - my bad!

Good catch, Karoline - avoid it..........

Thank you Parkinsonwife. It's just a silly habit I have got into with having these small bottles to hand. I don't drink a whole (250ml)  bottle in one go but take a few sips throughout the day and have noticed the tiredness and feeling light headed soon afterwards. My mood swings are up one minute and down the next and then anxiety sets in. Just so fed up feeling like this all the time which is why I googled about Lucozade in desperation of finding a reason why I feel like this

No worries, Karoline! I'm a lifer in depression, so I completely get it. Trouble is, I'm getting so old I've had to quit some old habits to make room for new ones rolleyes!!

Be well...when you can....

Oh right, so sorry didn't realise. I'm actually just looking at them not and I'm not kidding, NOWHERE does it say it contains caffine. Isn't that ridiculus, shouldn't that be written on the packaging and not just the web page?

Yeah just ignore me them, I had no idea.

Hope you find a good alternative for yourself.
