Lump in throat sensation on Losartan and Amlodipine

Has anyone had the sensation of a lump in the throat when take Losartan and/or Amlodipine? It seems to come and go, - I can swallow food easily, but it comes on about an hour or two after meals. I would be interested to know whether anyone else got this symptom on these meds

Hello Rosie,

If you've followed this discussion, you already have an idea that this med Amlodipine is clearly not for everyone. The best advice anyone can give you is to get off of it. If it's imperative that you take something for HBP. There are many other meds you r Dr can prescribe. Or you can do what so many others are doing. Going Natural.

Good luck!

Michele

Yes Rosie, I had that sensation too, I was even refered to an ent cons, who passed a tube up my nose and down my throat to see if there was anything there. There wasn't. I stopped my Amlodipine a month ago now, and havnt had any trouble with throat since. All my other symptoms have got better too, even after two days of coming off the tablets, I started to feel better.

I would love to go natural - any tips you have would be welcomed.  I try to walk a lot, (can't swim at present as I have a disc problem in my neck ), eat healthily, don't smoke, drink only occasionally.  Any further tips you have please let me know! Thank you,

Rosie

Barbara, thank you so much for your reply.  I can't work out whether it's the Amlodipine or the Losartan that's doing it, but will drop Amlodipine ad see what happens.  The facial flushing is embarrassing too! Thank you for your help

hey Babs....how long were you on the Amlodipine? A month off and you feel better? I'm sure glad for you. it's been 5 weeks now for me and I"m still having all the burning, pins and needles ect....... I took the med for 2 yrs. Maybe mine is from the Simvastatin instead?

Michele

Hi Michele, I was on Amlodipine for over 2 years. I also used to have pins and needles in my hands and pain in my arms upon waking., as well as a whole lot of other symptoms, The pins and needles I have had in the last month are very mild, and only happened twice in the first 2 weeks. I think it might take an awful while for some people to get completely clear of bad symptoms. What ever you do, please make sure you check your BP regularly, I do. I wouldnt want it on my concience if anyone was ill because they had come off meds. I went to GP last week and told him I had not been taking them for a month, with no bad reaction. He agreed, and said it was good that I was much better without them.
