Lupron (leuprolide acetate)

Has anyone use this to treat prostate (Lupron).. I will copy the definition.

Luteinizing-hormone releasing hormone is a key hormone released into the body prior to producing testosterone. Blocking the release of LHRH with the use of LHRH therapies is the most common hormone therapy used on prostate cancer patients. Drugs in this class include Lupron, Viadur, Zoladex, Trelstar and Eligard.

I know several men who have had the injection.  It causes all the symptoms of a girl going through menopause, crying, moodiness, enlarged breasts, hot flashes, etc.

It does not cure prostate cancer.  It does not lengthen your life expectancy.  It stops the pain of when cancer gets into your bones.  Prostate cancer typically takes 20 years to kill.  So, unless you are near the 20 year mark, and in pain, it doesn't seem worth it.

A doctor wanted to give it to my husband, he didn't ask him if he would accept the shot, he just decided to give it to him - because his PSA was rising.  My husband said "no" to it and left, the doctor phoned saying "that shot cost me $2,000., it had to be mixed up and I can't use it later, so it had to be tossed out".  A few days later his secretary phoned and said "your husband will be billed the $5,000. cost for the shot".  So!  That is why they push this, the profit is $3,000.

I found a doctor on line who said not to get the shot, as it isn't worth the loss of quality of life, he said to wait until you have pain from the prostate cancer, then the shot relieves the pain, and putting up with the other girly symptoms may be worth it then.

Also, we went to New Zealand, and they don't give the shot at all, they give pain killers when the pain gets bad.  They said it's inhuman to give Lupron to a man.

I had open heart surgery and all I took was Motrin or Tylenol for pain.

Take care, best wishes...

Lupron also makes you lose muscle mass, basically it turns you into a girl, a old moody  girl, what men really dislike is growing breasts,  and you have to get the shot every six months.

It's been over a year since our doctor wanted to give the shot to him, he's been perfectly fine, and is very glad he didn't give up his quality of life.

Thank you for responding, and giving me information about this ,,.This has been very informative..
