Hi! I have chronic Lyme disease, and was bitten about 5 years ago. I struggled and still struggle extremely with my health because the infection went undetected for so long. Good news for you, though! Since you caught it early and you’ve already been diagnosed only two weeks after your bite, treatment will likely clear you up and you’ll be good to go! If you’re not feeling better after the initial antibiotic treatment from your primary care doctor, immediately research and find an LLMD (Lyme Literate Medical Doctor) anywhere near you and make an appointment. They don’t take insurance and are usually quite expensive, but they know what they’re doing and will be able to help you immensely. Many regular physicians and the medical community as a whole don’t like to believe that chronic Lyme exists- I’m here to tell you that it most certainly DOES!!! 2 weeks of antibiotics, and sometimes even a month are not enough to rid a persons body of this disease. If it goes undetected for months or years, you will find yourself in a very scary place and your life will be severely interrupted. Remain calm, talk to your doctor. You’ll be okay!!!!!
Two months not two weeks! Lol, would that still be considered early? I already feel like this disease has robbed my whole life. These two months have been complete hell and it’s depressing. I’m just so so scared I don’t want to be like this forever
I replied to another message of you, and as you can see hunter1313 says about the same as I did. So, if I were you I would get that doctor as soon as possible. It's no use just sitting around and being scared if you can do something. I can understand that the thought of feeling like you do right now scares the hell out of you, because I know from experience you can feel absolutely rotten, bordering unbearable. Best take action a.s.a.p.
In most countries there is an online forum for Lyme patients, see if you can get some tips in there for LLMD doctors in your area.
What country are you from?
Our daughter in law had Lyme and was very sick. It wasn’t caught for quite a long time. She went to natural docotors in desperation and lots and lots of prayer and she’s doing very well!!! She’s pregnant now and doing amazing! There’s a really good doctor in Indiana that helped her a lot. We are from Canada and Lyme detection and treatment here is not good!
What are your symptoms that ended up being Lyme? I have been suffering horribly my doctor just tested me for Lyme and it came back I do not have it but she is considering testing again as it doesn’t always show up.
Oh I'm sorry to hear that. But at least now you have a diagnosis? I remember hearing when you were just worried it could be anxiety or psychosomatic.
What kinds of treatments are they giving?
Best,
Jonathan
Started out with hand tremors, my hands would shake and feel numb. Then my legs would feel like jello and I felt super fatigued. Next symptom was awful headaches, so bad that not advil, or Tylenol, even excedrin can take it away. Then came tons of eye floaters, shooting pains in my arms, wrists and joints. Hot flashes, feeling clammy all the time. Slow breathing.. only reason why I had tested to see if it was Lyme was because two months ago I got a bite and right after that, that’s when all my symptoms appeared. Which tests did you take if I may ask?
No treatment yet, have to take another test just to make sure it’s truly Lyme or what infections I may have. Until then I can get treatments.
I had tested postive for the ELISA, but they told me to wait a full week to do the western blot.. not sure why I have to wait? But it’s a two tier test to be truly sure I have it. They can’t start me on treatment until the next postive.. I did find a Lyme doctor not too far from me so if no luck with my GP I’ll go there.. so mad I have to wait tho lol.
From the US! Wow I’m so glad she’s doing so much better now!! That gives me so much hope. I’m doing this with my GP for now but I did find a Lyme doctor near me, so I’ll see my options for treatment and probably call the LLMD and see what they can do to help.
Wow you had a slew of symptoms. I had shakiness/anxiety I also get the jelly legs and some joint pain. Very fatigued and generally do not feel well. I did not ever find a tick bite on me but my doctor said sometimes people don’t know they were bit as it does not always produce a bullseye.
Keep fighting! you will soon realize that there are thousands of us across the country and the globe who are all in this battle together. I know this is scary, and the uncertainty is even scarier, but keep doing the best you can. Have faith that things will get better. There will be rough patches, but you can do this. Believe in yourself. We are all rooting for you, as we all root for each other. We feel your pain!!! Stay strong!!! You’ve got this! <3
That's great, a Lyme Literate Doctor near you! I know doctors like to do the Western Blot though it is a bit useless since the ELISA is infamous for its false negatives, not false positives. I've no idea why you are supposed to wait, by now you either have it or you don't, a week doesn't make any difference.
I hope you can start treatment soon, all the best!
My Lyme infection didn't show up on the ELISA nor the Western Blot. I ordered an LLT test myself and the infection showed up in the results after all.
I also have the bad anxiety! Yeah it’s awful. They kept saying it was anxiety and depression but I knew in my heart something was wrong. My bite wasn’t technically a bullseye but it was hot and red and swollen, it looked really bad. but I did read up to 60% of people don’t even realize they were ever bitten! I’d say keep pushing to test again. More doctor need to know about this disease
Thank you so much for your postive words! They truly mean a lot ❤️❤️❤️
Me either! I’m gonna try and see if I can take it earlier in the week. I just want treatment I’m so tired of feeling this way!! Thank you though! ❤️
I think I should test again too. Like you said 60% do not realize they’ve even been bitten. Good luck I hope all goes well with your recovery. I will be praying for you! God Bless!!
