lymph nodes & doom

I have two swollen lymph nodes that have been there years I went to doctors who said they won't do anything until there size of golf balls there not soft they don't move there on back of my neck in my hair line I was just bent over changing channels and I felt a lump on the other side now that's 3 lymph nodes on back of my neck one tiny one on side of my neck I'm really worried my grandad is dying of non hodgkins lymphoma !! He has had breathing problems for a year now since and just before his diagnoise he's on oxegon now cause it's so bad ! Well iv been having unexplained breathing problems too !! I also have lost weight like he has !! I read that lymphoma can take years to actually make a symtom appear ect .

And can be manifesting for years even 10 years !!

I'm petrified my doctors just keep saying come back when it's massive ect you can't see my grandads lymphoma because I think it's somewhere near his stomach ect as to find it they had to do keyhole and spinal ect I'm so worried right now it seems I have some symtoms my grandad has that has been passed on as anxoety I do have high anxiety hands up to that but this is tipping me because nobody is listening

Steph what seems to me a million years ago I was convinced I had lymphoma.  I had glands I could feel in my groin and neck.  I work in a lymphoma clinic so that added to my fear, I had just started there.  I was convinced the doctors were not listening to me.  Now I know they can feel the difference between bad lymph nodes and normal ones.  Please learn to trust them.

The most common cause of Lymphadenopathy is an infection, and not necessarily by a malignancy, and there can be other reasons for it too.

If you are really worried about this then I would suggest you should contact your GP again  and confront him/her with your concerns.

I feel quite certain that had your GP felt there was any reason for concern an immediate course of treatment would have been put in place.

Fear of the unknown creates more fear, and more fear can create anxiety disorders which can play havoc with our sytems.

Seek a full explanation from your GP.

Hi Stpehx,

When you spoke to your doctor did you explain about what your uncle is going through? Maybe this may change how they choose to deal with this if you haven't told them. Also, have you asked to see another doctor for a second opinion? Surely you are entitled to do that?

I hope you get things sorted soon.
