Lysine and odd smell?

hi everyone ,

i’m about six weeks post my first outbreak and I have been taking lysine 1000 mg a day ever since then. im also taking an antiviral, B6 for nerve health, and an immune booster. A few days of consistently taking all of this medication I feel has given me a weird smell in my vaginal area. Like a medicine or smell or a bitter smell. I initially thought it was my sores using but the source of been healed for a few weeks now and the smell is still there. Is this a common side effect from any of these things im taking? I initially thought it was my sores oozing causing the odor but the sores have been healed for a few weeks now and the smell is still there. is this something I’m gonna have to deal with for the rest of my life as well? any input is appreciated.

It is possible that you may have some kind of infection. BV which is a bacterial infection in the vagina is highly unlikely as this produces a fishy odour. I would advise a trip to your doctor to have it checked out. I would also be careful taking lysine as it’s worst side effect can be kidney failure. The kind of odour you describe is tricky as it doesn’t ring true with the most common infections but all the same it is possibly some kind of infection or the lysine could be messing with your vagina’s natural acidity in some way.

i get bv with my outbreaks, I use boric acid. sometimes I smell a woodsy type smell. i have a hard time smelling.
