Magnesium

Hi new this forum, but have a weird problem. I have GERD and take esomeprazole long term, my GP has cut my dosage as she believes that it interferes with magnesium. I started earlier this year taking magnesium supplements 375mg and about the same time started to get a really sore chest, as if something had scratched inside and it was raw, it made me have a wheezy cough and after several visits to GP they said it was GERD. Long story short about 10 days ago I ran out of magnesium, this pain went, 3 days ago started up again and chest pain and dry cough back, have not taken today and the pain is subsiding. I also take intermittent B12 supplements wondering could it be either of these. Wondering whether they are causing an allergic reaction?

In my book if something repeatedly starts and stops in concert with starting and stopping another action - there is a fair chance there is a link. Especially when we're talking medications - OTC or not.

Yes that it how I feel, so no more magnesium for me. I was curious if it was just me being strange LOL

In that case - we're probably all a bit strange in one way or another ;-)

Hi UAH. it sounds that there's possibly a connection between the Mag. & ur reaction. however, it might actually be something synthetic in the binding of the tablet or filling if capsule. u could try epsom salts and see what happens.
