Hi has anyone tried magnesium for anxiety? I bought 200 tablets from Holland and Barrett yesterday. I took my second one today. My dizziness went for a while then returned, however i feel more chilled out taking it.
Yes I take magnesium, theanine and omega 3 and they all seem to help (could be psychological but if it helps then who cares?!) I swear by tablets called “mind care balance” which contain 30 omega 3 tablets and 30 magnesium/theanine tablets. Wouldn’t be without them now. Hope this helps
Yes I take floradax liquid magnesium. I'm not sure it does help as I still get waves of lightheadedness and tremors but I keep taking it regardless. Is yours dizziness or is it more a feeing of being drunk/weak?
Heard lots of people say take magnesium for anxiety, supposed to help relax, ask gp though if your on meds as also heard it can lower your blood pressure with certain meds. If your not on meds, why not give it a go, anything that may help, give it a wk or two to see if you really notice any difference😊❤️
I am keen to take this but i am on warfarin, does anyone know if i can take it?
I take the same. Have been for a week.. At the start it felt as if it was working but last few days IV been bad. Especially the headaches.. Did it take a while to kick in? Thinking about taking 5htp with it
Hi Ann. Ask pharmacist, or ring gp receptionist just to ask if you can take it with warfarin. I was concerned it would mess with my blood pressure tablets so asked gp , he said would be ok with ones I'm on but always sensible to check. Hope your ok, if you. An take magnesium it's worth a try, lots of people believe they do help.😊❤️
Yes my dizziness is like im on a boat/ p****d up type. However it goes while driving or cycling
By the way im on 250mg version of magnesium. I got a tablet organiser today, this is what I plan to do from tomorrow 9/10/2017. Vitamin B complex/ 250mg magnesium/ 10mg propranolol I will take the propranolol separate as i normally take that in the afternoon around 4pm. I will let everybody know how I get on with doing this combination.
I recognise that feeling! I often feel drunk (and never while drivin but very often immediately after I get out of the car, so could be some sort of motion sickness for me?). Not great feeing drunk but without the happy feeling that would usually go with this!
No it actually felt like it made a difference almost immediately. My mum takes the mind care balance and 5htp as the mind care balance didn’t work on their own for her and she said she is much better now she takes the 5htp so definitely worth a shot if the mind care balance isn’t working for you
If you don't mind me asking.. Do you take it everyday and when is it best to take it. Also when your mother takes 5htp with it is it all at once
Yes I take it every day and it says on the bottle it is best to take mind care with food and 5htp on an empty stomach. So my mum takes 5htp when she wakes up and we both take mind care at lunch
Just a small update.
Ive been taking magnesium along with B complex and a multivitamin, all for Holland and Barrett. For the last few days. Its definitely having a positive effect touch wood. My dizziness is still here however its weird like I know im dizzy but its like I don't notice it I just get on with what Im doing. Plus sometimes I don't even have much dizziness. So here's hoping Im actually onto something here and could help many peoples anxiety as well.
Jelley93 - glad to hear that despite from dizzines you just keep going and do stuff. That's the right way of dealing with this sensation and anxiety altogether! It's a good sign that you understand that the dizzines is just an anxiety symptom and by taking control from it and lessening the value of this sensation, you are on a good way to combat anxiety. I am the same when it comes to dizziness, I just ignore it and do things regardless, go for a walk, drive etc. What I noticed was that when I started to be dizzy first was that my neck muscles were very tight... I started on gentle neck stretches 4-5 times a day, every day and after 3-4 days the dizziness symptoms reduced about 80%. Today for example they are pretty bad again but my body is in bad form today altogether so that's prob something to do with it. But I know that when we ignore the symptoms they weaken over time as we just convince our subconscious that those tricks don't work as much as before and we start feeling better. So keep up the good work!! Fingers crossed for you.
So the neck stretch Has a positive effect too. I'll try it out
It was a life saver for me tbh. My dizziness kicked in out of nowhere. I went to my GP cause I thought there was something wrong with me, I even had neck MRI done on it. All good, unreal tense muscles tho... so I started execrcising, even more when feeling dizzy. Tuck your chin in your chest, hold for 5secs, repeat 5 times. Turn head to the right, hold for 5secs, turn head to the left, hold 5secs, repeat 5 times to each side. Same side turns but try to look up at the ceiling instead. And google wall angels, great exercise! You can also look up other exercises, whatever works for you. Repeat few times a day, it wont take more than couple of minutes each time and let me know if you see any difference after few days.
You can try some of the neck stretches from this website https://www.spine-health.com/conditions/neck-pain/neck-stretches. Good luck x
Oh and I am on magnesium too. I bought H&B spray, I take quite some amount of different medications/supplements so try to stay away from more tablets. It is good plus Vit B supplements, they make the difference but more as a support, rather than a patch/fix on anxiety.
Started taking it yesterday. I feel drowsy and calmer after.
My TMJ doctor gave me lavender pills and magnesium. He said they help with relaxations and muscles. Tight muscles are usually the cause of TMJ.
He told me to take 2 Krebs magnesium-potassium pills upon waking and continue to take 2 every 2 hours until a bowel movement is produced. This apparently means your body has the correct load of magnesium. Then you take 2 to 4 per day.
I thought this sounded crazy and haven't tried it. I mentioned it to my family doctor and he hadn't heard of it either.
