Manipulation

What exactly is manipilation? How is it done, Why is it done? And last but not least why is it you knee have so much difficulties straightening your knee?

they put you under anaesthetic, so you don't feel anything, then force the bending and straightening of your knee.  this breaks down any tissue or muscles which have adhered in the wrong place, .then, usually, they put you on one of those machines which keeps the knee moving twenty four hours so that it can't happen again. However, once you've done that, you have to keep doing the bending and straightening again, to make sure you don't end up the same as before.  it is quite aggressive, and some people have considerable pain afterwards, whereas others say it isn't too bad.  haven't had it myself so don't know!

A manipulation is basically a procedure carried out under anesthetic which cracks the scar tissue. You can view this procedure online but it is only carried out when the patient has problems with the bend and/or straightening due to excessive scar tissue which prevents them getting a full range of movement.

Manipulation is done under anaesthetic (MUA). There is no nice way of putting it, they basically forcibly bend your leg back and fourth until it moves freely and loosens up any attached scar tissue. It would be impossible to use so much force whilst conscious. It's a violent procedure (my GPs description).

Many people don't have issues with the straightening, bending is apparently a more common problem but that can usually be improved. I, unfortunately have problems with both (which is more unusual). I can only comment on my problems....I have muscle adhesions (bits of muscle stuck to parts of the leg). I need these cutting away as well as the MUA. That's all next month.
