To anyone considering the operation to marsupilize a Bartholin cyst - it's really not even half as bad as comments on the Web may lead you to believe! !
I was so worried about having it done. I research the Web and frightened my self stupid: reading stories of excesive pain, months off work, disfigurement - awful stuff.
The reality was on Monday (yesterday)I had the op. I have had only very mild pain from the stitches I think, but I ve not had to take any pain killers. I ve not bleed. It does t look awful and I feel ok just little tired. I am resting to be on the safe side but I imagine I ll be absolutley fine to go into work by Monday.
Maybe we re lucky to have the NHS unlike the USA where a lot of the horror stories seem to come from.
I nearly cancelled my op out of fear but I am relieved I went through with it and it was not awful at all.
Your very lucky lol I from UK and had mine done in December and again 3 weeks ago I wasn't in much pain for first few days but then I started bleeding and the pain came back some days are worse than others I'm trying to get my specialist to take my glands out due to the fact I've had 2 marzipulations and key hole surgery because of these horrible things I've been of work for the last 12 weeks and my dr has just signed me of for another 2 weeks but I have to go for another check up before going back to work
Well said Jo. There are a lot of scare stories on the webb about everything especially health conditions. Some of it is just trolling I'm sure. As you say Thank Goodness for the NHS,and glad you realised the reality is not anywhere as bad as the scare stories.......
Hope you recover well.
Hi
Glad your doing well and will continue to do so.
I went to the doctors nhs and we spoke about this procedure when to go to the hospital and other stuff. To my surprise she said go to such n such hospital (wont mention names),she said go to this other hospital to have it done.
This hospital that I was advised to go to is alot further away. I also asked this is ment to br a one off treatment why are people havin to have the procedure redone. The answer was depends on of iys done correctly.
So yes thank good for the nhs buy I feel that if a hospital is havin returns to do the same procedure again there is a problem in the system that needs looking at.
I had a tw*t look at mine he walked n said to the junior doctor,u think cancer! He would not explain the commment.
It was an abscess and he squeezed it even though I said stop and shrieking in pain.he told me are not an abscess its not painfull enough. I couldn't walk. Got given antibiotics two days later it burst I was in shock. The amount of stuff came out.
My point is ladies ask the gp which hospital has the best success rate of a1 off procedure.
I'm from the USA and I've read so many horror stories about marsupialization but I'm still going to go through with it if I do get another cyst. I'm on my second one now and the doctors said if or when I get the next one they will do the surgery so I'll be nervous but compared to what I've already experience I don't see how it can be any worse.
