Martizipine withdrawal

Can someone help me I've been on  martizipine for over 3 years I've been on 30mg I went down to 15mg after 6weeks I feel my body starting to shake and starting to get a lot of tension going to head and can't sleep for long is this withdrawal symptoms or is it my anxiety coming back

Hi

I think you taper too quick from 30mg to 15 mg under 6 weeks is fast. They advice to slowly reduce at 10% every 3 to 4 weeks.

I've withdrawing from being on it for over 20 years and all I can say is GO SLOW.  I was on 30 mgs and dropped to 15 mgs and I'm going into my second month at that dose.  I plan on dropping month by month until I'm rid of it but it may take me 6 months or more to clear it from my system.  Of course all our systems are different so withdrawal symptoms vary.  Even afer almost 3 weeks on 15 mgs. I feel as tho my insides are vibrating and I have tingling in strange places and think I see things out of the cornor of my eyes when there is nothing there.  In your case I'm guessing it's a bit of both withdrawal and anxiety.  Anxiety of withdrawing can make the process harder and take longer and increase anxiety.  Just go very slowly and if your sleep is disturbed you might try over the counter Benedryl, an antihistamine which is supposedly the effect Mirt has at 15 mgs.  SLOW my friend.  Good luck.

Hi Tadger. It probably is a combination of the two.I was put on Mirt and Gabapetin of various doses over about the last 8 months as well as being weaned off of Paxil after 20 years and I'm still trying to stabilise. You may take awhile to recover so to speak and unfortunately everyone is different. If you have a good doc let them no or get a profesionsl counsoler(i go to one) which helps.I pray to God alot too and we talk otherwise I wouldn't get thru.Hang in there and take one day at a time.God Bless You and be withyou,Bob
