Massage of thigh after THR

Wondering if anyone has used a massage roller stick on thigh after THR. If you have, any recommendations?

I know that swelling and some numbness can continue for a long time after surgery. I use ice and elevate which does relieve it. No pain.

Hi Dianne, I am a witness that the roller works wonders.Even almost a year later from left THR and 6 months right THR I still use the roller. Early in my recovery it help with spasms. Remember to be patient with yourself and healing. It is a process that takes many turns. Blessings! Teresa

No but I am in the thermal spa dailywith super strong water jets.  I think it helps

I had scar tissue work from my therapeutic massage therapist 3 weeks after surgery - she taught me how to do some work myself which is basically gently massaging around the scar, I'm presuming in upward movements.   I'm also using vitamin E oil (as advised on this site) as well as arnica balm on my leg from knee up - again in an upward direction

Fortunately I haven't had spasms. Almost 10 weeks since surgery and I have learned to be patient with recovery. Those "turns" often happen unexpectedly but are manageable.

What roller do you use? I have no idea what would work well for issue with my thigh and later to use for any muscular massage.

If it wasn't for the wound issue, I'd consider that, too.

Good to have the advice about upward massage.

Actually I'm using an old rolling pin since I don't take.lol😃😃

As soon as it is healed!

That's my plan.

That is interesting as I was told to use a cream for massage but to ensure it did not contain vitamin E. Also it should not be perfumed. Upward movement was preferable to circular motions. The important thing seemed to be the massage and it could even be done without the cream or oil.

I don't use cream with scents. My dogs will lick it off if I do.
