Hi there,
I've been on flu for about 8 or 9 weeks now and it doesn't seem to be working! I've not really had any side affects apart from a very disturbed sleeping pattern, but this happened alot before i started taking flu!
I've probably been suffering from depression for a very long time, and still trying to come to terms with the fact that i am ill, which is not easy. My GP has been trying to get me to take anti depressants for the last 7 years and so it is very frustrating to start taking them and for them not to work!
Will this get any better, should i speak with my GP or just wait for abit longer?
It has been suggested that i see a psychiatrist to assess my depression, should i do that?
Please if anyone has any advice, i would be grateful.
hi orb fairy,
I think that sometimes they dont work for everyone, but dont be discouraged. There are others to try and I am sure your doctor will be happy to talk this through with you, go back and see what they say, meanwhile keep taking the Flu.
And I dont see any reason to not have an assessment, it might be helpful for you.
Hope your feeling better soon.
Hello,
It took around 7 weeks for me to start feeling better but I have not had these feelings for more than about a year so it may take you a bit longer? Perhaps an increase in mg or an alternative pill may suit you better.
Hope you feel better soon.
Hi,
Thank you so much for your advice. i realise that i didn't get depressed overnight and so wont get better overnight. I think i will have to speak with my GP and i'll go for an assessment, even though the fact that i have to see a psychiatrist scares me stupid.
It's going to be a long and hard battle to get better isnt it? And to be honest at the moment it seems almost impossible.
Thanks again for your response.
