I had the first surgery to remove a 9mm kidney stone on 10-23-2017. Surgery was done on an out-patient basis thru the Short Procedure Unit at the hospital. Before surgery I had to go to my Primary, my Cardiologist, and my Pulmonary doctors, and get clearance so I could have surgery. Each one cleared me for surgery.
During surgery, the Urologist could not get the stone out. It was impacted in the distal part of my right ureter. He put a stent in to open ureter, so urine could drain from right kidney. Stent stayed in for 7 ½ weeks.
About a week or so after the first surgery, I started feeling achy all over, tired all the time, and I was cold most of the time, even though I kept my apt. at 75 degrees. Mentioned this to the Urologist when I had a follow-up appointment with him a 1 ½ weeks after surgery, but he just brushed it off and would not give me an answer.
Thinking maybe my blood count was low, I went to my Primary during the middle of November and had blood tests. They were all normal.
Had 2nd surgery on 12-14-2017. Urologist removed the stent, was able to break up the stone, and then he put another stent in. That stent only had to stay in for 1 week, and he removed it in his office.
Since having the 2nd surgery, have felt even worse than I did before. Went to my Cardiologist, and he did an EKG which was normal. Went to my Pulmonary doctor and he said my lungs were clear. Went to my Primary and he did and EKG, and more blood tests and a urinalysis, and everything was normal.
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad – very glad that all the tests were normal, but no one knows what's wrong with me – why I feel the way I do, and that is very upsetting, because it has been almost 4 months since the 1st surgery, and almost 2 months since my 2nd surgery, and I can hardly function, and I was never like this before I had surgery.
I started thinking maybe it is the medicine they gave me during surgery that's making me feel this way, so I decided to get a copy of my medical records, so I would know exactly what I was given. I asked the urologist for a list of the medicine, but he told me he didn't have it in his records, but that the hospital most likely had it. So yesterday I went to the Medical Records Dept. at the hospital, and filled out a Release Form so I could get a copy.
I waited an hour for them to get the copy ready, and like a fool, I didn't look at it until I got home, and when I saw what they gave me, I was ready to scream. They gave me the 6 page clearance that my Cardiologist had sent to them in October before my 1st surgery, and the 3 page clearance that my Pulmonary doctor had sent to them in October before my 1st surgery, and a few pages from my Primary that he sent to them before the 1st surgery. And they gave me 1 page that the Urologist had written under “Procedure Details” from the 10-23-2017 surgery. And they even gave me a copy of the Medical Records Release Form that I had to fill out!
But, they didn't give me a list of any of the medications I was given, nor did they give me anything from the surgery I had on 12-14-2017.
Years ago I worked for a mal-practice attorney, so I know what's supposed to be in medical records, and since the hospital did not give me that information, I have to question why, and if they are trying to hide something.
Any and all opinions about this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
