Can anyone tell me if the levothyroxine (i think thats how to spell it!) comes with side affects? I started taking it about two months ago and i have been sick constantly since. I have seen my GP on several occasions who tells me it is just a case of bad timing and i am suffering from a stomach bug at the same time but i have been sick for nearly six weeks! I am feeling sick in the morning, i have a bad stomach, am struggling to eat and i am exhausted all the time. I am so tired i can't even work! Can anyone help me?
i kno how you feel and am ay a loss is yhere any help? i have tried to look but no luck
Side effects caused by levothyroxine usually only occur if your dose is too high. For this reason, you should tell your doctor if you get any of the following side effects: chest pain (angina)
awareness of your heart beat (heart palpitations)
abnormal heart beats (arrhythmias)
faster than normal heart beat (tachycardia)
muscle cramps
diarrhoea
vomiting
shaking, usually of the hands (tremor)
restlessness
excitability
difficulty in sleeping (insomnia)
headache
flushing
sweating
fever
intolerance to heat
muscle weakness
weight loss.
if you have just started the increase should be gradual and not in big increases . have you thought of taking your thyroxin last thing at night instead of in the morning ...that may help: hope you get it sorted it is bad enough without the sickness:
thank you - i have been seeing my doctor every four weeks but he seems to think that blood tests are indicating that the dose is still too low!! I will carry on and see how i go, the sickness is just really doing me in! Thanks again anyway nice to have someone who knows what they are talking about!
