Medication denied

Hi, I have been prescribed 30 mg dihidrocodie slow release x4 daily with no problems at all. For over seven yrs, I also take other medication for the rest of my life,  Since I have moved home my new gp has refused to carry on with my treatment  he says that I have been wrongly prescribed and that I will  be dependant and he wants to refer me to a drug dependent unit, witch I am really against, I am 64yrs live alone with my dog and manage my condition quite well I haves ever sciatic and lower spinal problems and without this medication life and pain become almost debilitating. I am really concerned about this, and have made a appointment to see a different gp. The thing is I don't know what he intends to replace it with as this the only med that worked

for me . I felli am in for a lot of pain and upset which I don't feel I can go through. Can any one help. Do I have any say in this?

That's awful! If you've been taking them for 7yrs with no problem, I dont know why your new g/p would do this to you. All i can suggest that you find another g/p & explain to him. Does the new g/p realise the horrible withdrawal symptons of this medication. He should leave things as they are with respect to your age & your pain. That's just my opinion!

Hi karry thanks for your reply, I did just that and I am happy to say he was very understanding and all is ok, it's hard as it is without this sort of thing to upset your routine again thanks for your kind reply

kind regards

malcolm

Glad to hear you sorted this out, it would have been terrible for the doctor to treat you in this way
