I am on BP control drugs but feeling headache. Is it safe to take paracetamol?
Yes, as long as it is only occasional use, long term use can affect BP.

I take Lisinopril 2.5 mg for BP. I take paracetamol for backpain from time to time. The manufacturer does not list paracetamol as a 'problem' drug. It's important to read the instruction leaflet that comes with your BP medication. However, I can't take cold or flu remedies as these are not permitted if taking BP medication.
Way before I had hypertension I took cold cure tablets and felt my BP going way up and had a headache.
My father in law took a dose of Night Nurse and slept for 36 hours.Of course when he woke up he at first though that it was the next day:-)
I have never been told that I cannot take cold and flu remedies even though I have been on BP meds for 20years now. Do you know why they are not permitted. As it happens I cannot take them anyway as I am not allowed to take anything with ibuprofen in because of acid reflux, and already take 2 tablets 2 per day co -codamol 30/500 because of chronic pain.

My Lisinopril leaflet says: Tell your doctor if you are taking, or have recently taken, or might take any other medicines. This is because Lisinopril can affect the way some medicines work and some medicines can have an effect on Lisinopril. Listed is 'Medicines to treat nose or sinus congestion or any other cold remedies (including those you can buy in the pharmacy'.
My hubby's Lemsip says 'Do not take this medicine if you have high blood pressure (hypertension)'. Boots cold and flu relief says 'Do not take if you have high blood pressure'. Both leaflets state that possible side effect is high blood pressure, headache, dizziness etc.
Last time I had a bad cold I asked my pharmacist about taking cold remedies whilst taking BP medication. He emphised that I should NOT take any cold remedy as it is very likely to raise my BP. So I had a flu jab this winter and hope that I don't get a bad cold.
Since having our Flu jabs in mid September my wife has had three colds two of which she has kindly passed on to me.
Some herbal teas/infusions can have the same effect.
I get free flu jabs each winter, despite being only 50. as I am at the top 2% risk category.
But I always refuse them as I don't like unnecessary things being put into my system.
Iam not sure I agree. When offered flu jabs I always take it as I definitely do not want flu. I have 14 different health conditions, many of them unrelated to each other, and take 11 different medications on a daily basis, total 26 tablets per day. I have the flu jab because if I did get flu I would be seriously ill. A flu jab is not always an "unnecessary thing".
I also take many prescription medications per day. I'd rather fight the flu than have chemicals injected into me, even if they are free.
I think we will hav to agree to differ. The last and only time I had influenza I was very poorly, my blood sugars went completely out of control (I am diabetic) and I was unable to manage self care without help. I have major mobility problems and have been on the highest rate of mobility allowance for nearly 40 years - shortly after it was first introduced. The flu meant I could not manage on my own and as I hate losing my independence even for a relatively short length of time I decided I would do whatever it took not to go through that again so make sure I have the flu jab as soon as possible after it is introduced each year.
