Has anyone ever Taken amitriptyline for anxiety or low mood etc? I've taken this before in the past for migraines and I had no side effects at all, it just didn't work migraine. I experience depersonalisation 24/7 plus anxiety. I know it's an old school medication, but has anyone been prescribed this for the above? I took citalopram last year and had a very bad reaction after just two tablets, so I'm very hesitant about medications as I don't seem to tolerate them well!

Amitriptyline....worked for my sleep issues....and anxiety...no really horrible side effects....not at all like cit.....should help....worth a go....take it at night will make you nice and sleepy.....J

I can't remember having any side effects, but did it make your mood better etc? I used to take 20mg of amitriptyline before I started having all these issues. X
I think it numbed my anxiety.....but it certainly came back...it did make me sleepy through the day....sort of sluggish....I came off it because really I don't like medication....tempting though it is....trying to get myself out of it ....hard work!! Best of luck x
