Mine has to be my wife's homemade Carraway Seed Cake with hot Custard! I don't know why but none of our kids even like just Carraway Seed Cake, yet I eat like theres no tomorrow...LOL
Perhaps its an oldies cake... gawd knows!
not keen on seeds myself ,but i do love wartime beetroot cake.and carrot cakes
stupid question....do you add beetroot grated raw like in carrot cake, or cook it first? Had a scrummy chocolate and beetroot cake the other day but the lady couldn't tell me what recipe and method her daughter had used to make it....I only know I would have LOVED a second slice of it!!!!
ps: favourite pudding has to be oven baked rice pudding with lots of nutmeg....yummy!!
you grate it in cooked and fold it in
Love 'railway cake'.
anyone else call call it that? A little slab of moist fruit cake sold in yester year at railway station buffets. Mmm loved it.
oh it's meant to puds! Ah?
Yes, Apple pie, with butter crust above and soggily below and thick with sour OK Tiswas t a rrr t Bramley apples cut big liberally sprinkled with brambles OK you English black berries plus a bucket of custard. Mmmmmmmmmm
if that cannot be arranged then same filling with butter crumble on top plus bucket of custard. Also mmmmmmmm
Mark you, I would walk a long way to get my teeth into a classy Christmas pud. All fruit and nuts with the minimum of flour and suet to bind then together. Mature it for 11 plus months. Then tenderly bring it into the kitchen and wash its little botty with brandy. Present in a flaming sea of brandy and serve with a quite disgracefully large helping of brandy butter. Eat joyously in candlelight.
In 12 months you will have recovered enough to do it again.
cant syand fruit cake ,but it always looks nice
My favourite ever would have to be homemade apple crumble with either ice-cream or custard!
