Meneier's / vertigo

Have been clear of Vertigo for 7 months, when last week got Tinnitus which started My Vertigo all over again, dizzy all the time feeling sick and getting panic attacks again at night also feeling Anxious all the time.....any ideas why this should return after such a good break from Tinnitu/Vertigo

Hi Steve34717

This is an issue with Menieres unfortunately you cannot predict when or why it will happen. I was clear of symptons for about 4 years and off all medications then suddenly had several bad attacks again. In my case I think it was brought about by having a stressful situation going on at the time which thankfully now is not the case however I am back on medication again so as to avoid a repeat hopefully. Everyone is different with this sadly which makes it difficult to know why it suddenly comes back. I hope you feel better soon. Best wishes to you.

How long have you seen a doctor for this? Has a doctor given you any advice? Medical treatment of any kind? if it has been 7 months I would suggest a visit to a doctor..possibly an ENT or a Neurologist.

i.know it is frustrating and scarey but stay on top of it and it try to be vigilant with seeking medical care.

I have had this for a few years now and have had totally clear periods. It woud appear that no one I have consulted can say if it will recur and if so at what frequency. It generally appears that recurences are less severe but neveretheless disquieting and recovery quicker but still gradual after successive bouts. Of course there may be exceptions but there are some grounds to feel less stress at each bout.

yes it has been told to me that after your initial diagnosis over the years the episodes will become less and change in verocity. Supposedly alcohol...caffeine and many foods especially high in salt can be triggers. It is good to hear that you have long periods without an attack. I used to think back to what I had done or eaten before a bad episode. Sometimes loud music or travelling would also be irritants. As each case is different it really takes some detective work on your own and medical advice to tell what may or may not be the root of the cause.

Hi i have had Vertigo now for 4 years, been everywhere ENT scans etc, they gave me meds but no good....thought i had seen the back of this, but oh no, feeling really down now i got it back again

I am not convinced that diet, caffeine or anything else is a a factor in recurrencs.Clearly any doctor will tell you to pursue a healthy lifestyle regardless as they just do not know what causes it. It may not help you but just trying to pursue normal life and plenty of exercise seems to hel me so far.

It is not rare to have episodes of vertigo (episodic vertigo). The commonest cause is Vestibular migraine, followed by Meniere's Disease.
