Meniere's surgey

I have dealt with MD for over 10 years and have tried everything from my DR, Diuretics, sterroid shots etc. I was sent to a specialist in Nashville and I had a sac decrompession surgery and Gentamycin inj that disconectd my balance nerve on my right side. The surg wea 6/16. I have been dizzy, off balance and spacy ever since This is daily all day.  Anyone else had this surgery? I am so regreting the surgery. Does this get better? Anyone know?

Has surgery at least reduced the intensity of the vertigo?

Dear April,

I'm so sorry to hear what you're going through.  I haven't had that surgery or the Gentamycin injection, but I'm pretty sure there are people on the forum who have.  I have had vestibular rehab and balance retraining with a physical therapist who specialized in Meniere's, and that helped a lot when I had completely lost my balance after a particularly horrible episode.

What has your doctor said about your situation?  Perhaps some Physical Therapy might help?

I can imagine how miserable you must be feeling. I wish you all the best in finding some relief.

Take good care,

J-

I actually started the therapy this week . And it has made my symptoms worse . The therapist told methatvit could get worse before it gets better .

It is different that a true meiners attack I could not function with those . But this is different it isn't true dizziness I am off balance and I have a hard time concentrating . It is dizziness but different from the attacks .

Hi,

I can remember feeling that way, too.....She made me do everything that made me sick and off balance, and many times over!  However,  I think it was around my 3rd or 4th visit that I began to feel more stable and less nauseous.  I also had to do exercises at home, in between visits, which was difficult at first...but again...I think it was around the 3rd or 4th visit that I realized that I was much more steady, and I my stomach was staying where it belonged.

I know how difficult this must be.....Try to hang in there for a little bit and see if it might get better (I know!  Easier said than done!)   But if it's still getting worse after a few weeks, I'd say you've given it you're best shot and I can't see the point of torturing yourself.

I wish I could be of more help!

J-

Thank you for your kind words .
