After being diagnosed July 2015, and being put on bethlastine. I have noticed that since the start of 2016 changing diet, watching salt intake and increasing attendance at the gym and most importantly deciding to complete dry January.... Drinking so much water a dsy my whooshing in my ear is on some days none existence.... I still have to wear my hearing aid for work ... But I can sit at home without it in without the other sounds going on in my ear. I have read on the Internet alcohol can effect menieres so I think cutting it out has made a difference.. I have a hospital appointment tomorrow so I am going to mention it.... Obviously I think if the changes have made a difference then I will have to monitor my intake. Has anyone else experienced this.
Yes, I've found alcohol affects it greatly. I've more or less cut it out. On the two occasions I succumbed to a few drinks and got tipsy I woke up with the room spinning. And feeling so rough and also anxious and scared that more would happen. We all know that feeling of impending dizziness. So,it's not worth it. Im on 32mg betahistine x3 a day, normal is 16mg but I found that didn't work well enough. I know some are on 48mg. Maybe the alcohol stops the drug from working. Keep doing what you're doing it sounds like it's working. X
I've given up alcohol completely - nothing since September 2014. Easier to have none rather than one, then stop. Also watching the salt and caffeine, which, combined with the Betahistine, seems to have helped. My last attack was 13th April 2015, and before I got the meds right, I was having attacks every 3-5 days. Also a banana a day.
I've noticed a correlation as well. Good luck to you, to all of us.
