https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2749064/ My whole body shakes, particularly when I get upset about something, which seems to be all the time...
Oh what a coincidence!
I read this yesterday!
On my last visit, I said to my doctor that every morning my mood is awful…depression along with irritability, nervousness..extreme anxiety and the feeling that I want to kill everyone around me!
He prescribed me some vitamins which they are supposed to balance the cortisol levels.
I have ordered them to my pharmacist. I am looking forward to use them and see the results
Hi Laura,
I used to get the same thing, like a chemical reaction with shakes, terrible nervousness, shaky voice etc it was awful especially when I went back to work. I take bhrt and gradually it subsided and I don’t get it now xx
HI can you tell me what vitamins please
Where did you get bhrt from please was ig anywhere uk, how old are you many thanks
YES we need more concrete scientific research. Thank you for posting this academic article!
yes which vitamins???
Hi,
I had this during the menopause. It got so bad that I was anxious about it all the time - the attacks of what seemed to be excess cortisol got so bad that I just got more and more anxious about the attack of anxiety, creating a cycle that I just couldn’t get out of. I had no idea what was going on, and neither it seemed did any Dr I went to. They treated it like some kind of mental health problem.
When I found out that this does sometimes happen in menopause I was really cross that no-one seemed to know or tell me about it at the time! I did often just think I was going mad.
If I had known I would have had more faith in relaxation techniques and doing lots of exercise, which I think is sometimes the answer to this - and just not over worrying about it!
They called "agan stress adapt"but I do not know yet how effective they are.
I found during my internet research that they contain rhodiola rosea, vitamin B, C and some other plant derived adaptogens which can balance cortisol and increase serotonin.
to be honest, I believe that only estradiol and Bhrt can fix our problems.
Why some women have to suffer so much?!
HI
Can you tell me where you can get these tablets “agan stress adapt”
are they only available through your dr or can you buy them online?
thanks
Linda
Dhea i understand is an antagonist of cortisol and can raise estrogen but can also raise testosterone if taken in too high doses. Maybe worth looking into?
Someone also mentioned exercise which raises cortisol during exercise but does lower it over time which is beneficial. I find if i exercise too late in the day it over stimulates me (cortisol). it makes sense that we might have issues with cortisol during peri and menopause as our adrenal glands take on some of the burden of producing sex hormones when our ovaries start slowing down so our adrenals can become over worked and a bit stressed. im over simplifying but there’s lots of info out there about adrenal stress and affects on sex hormones.
All the best everyone and Happy Christmas!
