menopause - coming off HRT.......can we help each other?

I've been on HRT oral tablets for a couple of years due to early menopause at 45 years. I had unbearable sweats day and night and exhausted I went to my GP. I was told - recommended I stay on HRT until 50 to protect my bones...I understand the logic. The pills caused nausea and I came off (rebound of menopausal symptoms) and have been on patches for 4 months. I find they sometimes catch on clothing and also after 4/5 days I get a n itchy rash where it sticks. Does anyone else find this?? I take FEMSeven sequi. I don't know what to do. I'm a really anxious person (worse since menopause), I don't have sweats anymore on HRT but I feel I should come off soon and due to the irritation of patches, I need to try coming off soon......scared of symptoms returning. I asked my GP who said I could try cutting patches in half to come off slowly but it's really hard to do. Has anyone tried it and can offer advice? Menopause is such a shock, these forums are vital. There's not enough support for women. Reading these forum posts is at least reassuring that others have similar symptoms.

hi restina

i have never taken HRT personal choice wanted to do it naturally but am really struggling with anxiety at the moment had a bad bout of it in OCTOBER 2017 and then nothing till August 2018 and wham all this snxiety hit me like a brick its awful this menopause but no period since Oct 2017 so nearly post and i am hoping things calm down soon x

i am debating HRT but so many different ones abd i have never even been on the pill or anything . did HRT help with anxiety?

Generally yes, the HRT helped some anxiety. It helped because I could generally sleep at night and not feel like I was having a panic attack in the middle of the night sweating buckets. Sleeping meant I could have more energy to drive my daughter to school and didn’t feel like my body was totally alien to me as in…“why am I having sweats and having to throw off layers in a hurry”. The menopausal sweats felt like I was in an anxious panic about things. Has the anxiety disappeared completely? No, but I can mostly manage it. I have also found that reducing my cups of tea to 1-2 a day have helped, I have only 1 morning coffee and I have taught myself to get used to having camomile and other herbal teas…it takes a while for the taste buds to accept the new flavours..but I find the camomile really helps. I try to walk every day even if only 15 mins. I couldn’t cope on the HRT tablets, due to reoccuring nausea but the patches have been much better…if only they always stayed on. They are safer than tablets too as less risk of clotting, but GPs know best. Anxiety is one of those symptoms that isn’t always discussed linked to menopause…but it can be one of the worst. My aunt committed suicide not many months after a hysterectomy, about 10 years ago. She left 3 children behind. She should have been given oestrogen to replace the huge drop in it - it is essential these issues are dealt with by GPs and each county should offer menopausual supports groups, if only funding was there.
