Menopause

hi I'm 57 years and I'm just wondering if anyone else has just stopped bleeding about two months ago I'm confused I don't know if I'm starting MP or is God playing games with me I get bad pain every month now like there coming again, have I started or not or do I have to wait a whole year with out a period, I do have signs hot flushes cry a lot, really bad back and ankle pain and to top it off I have meniere disease

Sara, I am 57 and in the middle of a late/prolonged peri. About ten years ago I started skipping periods. Then ten months ago I started bleeding and didn't stop until I started using micronized liposomal bioidential progesterone cream. I finally have stopped flooding, clotting, and spotting for two weeks now.

Yes, you do have to wait 12 months without a period to make it into menopause. But we're here for you!

Hi Sarah

hot flushes and night sweats and feeling hormonaly tearful, are a good indictor, i had these symptoms first in my early peri menopause ( the time before post menopause )

post menopause is when no periods after one year.

my peri started earlier than you i was aged approx 40 / 41, lasted ten years

i am post menopause now age just 50.

generally the periods decline and are skipped this all varies from woman to woman, mine declined steadily each year, skipping a few .. Until i had no more ...

Hi Sarah

Posted a depressingly long note on here this morning: surprised the 'Men in White Coats' weren't sent out to find me on the strength of it!  Actually feel a lot better today as it goes.

I've just turned 54 and still bleed as regular as I did in my mid-20s - gutted!  Thought by 54 I'd be over and done with it all and well into my menopause....as if!

My next sister up from me finished her periods at 54, so I think maybe this year might be THE mother of all year's for me.  Found Xmas particularly horrible this year:  really miss my parents/in-laws at this time of year.  Not helped by the fact that I got my period on my birthday (21/12)......and haven't really stopped bleeding since then.

You'll get lots of support on this site - and fantastic advice - as I would say this is THE place for us to all air our concerns, share our worries and symptoms etc.

If having long periods, then irregular then stopping for a few months is what's in store for me, I'll just have to take it.  Just really hate the whole chore of having to wear sanitary protection all the bloody time!

Do you think this is pay back for not having problems as a teen/younger woman and having a fantastic, problem-free pregnancy???  Can't have it all, I suppose.
