Hi all,
I started on Mertazapine just over two weeks ago and wondered if anyone else was suffering from the same symptons as me> I am constantly tired, to the point where I could sleep at any time. Also I have an increased sugar rush. I often get up in the middle of the night and eat my childrens sleep, lol!
On a serious note though if anyone can relate to this i would be very grateful for a reply.

I was on mirtazapine for a month. It made me hungry beyond control and i put on half a stone and I never put on weight. It made me so sedated I could bearly function for the first 2 weeks. And the final nail for me was mental imparment, my memory just did not function and I was very slow in response to questions etc.Oh and it made my body ache. Basically it was not for me but some others on here do get on wel with it.
Hi Mitch, when I started taking it back in september I felt tired all the time, now i just sometimes feel tired mid afternoon. I also get really hungry sometimes in the evenings. I also find as I'm waiting for it to kick in the evening I get a bit restless before I fall asleep
I am Mirtazapine - highest dosage now - 45mg , my doctor put me on them later Summer 2014 as i was struggling with nights and he gradually up the dosage 15mg, then 30mg now the 45mg , once asleep they are fantastic as i don't wake up , i have noticed no weight gain or an urge for sweet items but i guess like all medication they affect people in different ways , i want to carry on with those tablets , i am just waiting to see a psychiatrist to see if he will prescibe another type of tablet to get me through daytime to work alongside the Mirtazapine as my own doctor cannot do that .
Hi Mitche been put mertazapine 15mg for 3 weeks now , along with venlafaxine 37.5mg .
In these 3 weeks of taking mertazapine I've had bloating , stomach pains ,diarrhea, muscle pain in my legs, breathlessness I sound like I've done a marathon when I've just walked up stairs. Yes it helped with my sleep and I no longer had the thought of self harming.
The reason why I was put on mertazapine was I was trying to come off venlafaxine, which at the time I was on 150mg. But at the moment I've been without venlafaxine for 3 days and the withdrawal symptoms are awful.
I've just been on to my doctor she's taking me off the mertazapine, and I'm going back to 37.5mg venlafaxine.
Think we was trying to much to fast, I'm hoping it will get sorted out eventually.
Like you the first few weeks of mertazapine I was so tired,
yes got great night's sleep, the tiredness did go after that but the other side effects just are too many for me to carry on with it, I do hope that you will be ok these meds effect everyone differently it's all trial and error.
