Metallic taste in mouth when eating certain types of food

Hello,

I have a problem with eating for about a week now. When I eat certain types of food I get some kind of a metallic taste in mouth and it gets me very nauseous. This taste is present when I eat fruits and vegetables with strong taste or smell (eg. Orange, lemons, peppers, onions, garlic, etc.). It gets me very nauseous and I lose my appetite. I just don’t know what’s wrong with my taste and smell, this is specially present when i try to eat onions, the taste is so gross and it gets me to puke, I’ve never had a problem with eating onions, i love them and eat it daily prior to this problem, and when i try to eat mint gum or mint sweets it is strong also to make me puke. I don’t have teeth problem and my oral hygiene is good, i brush my teeth every day and night. Did someone have a similar problem, if did could you tell me what to do, and how to get rid of this problem. Yes I am a smoker, smoke about six to seven cigs a day.
Thanks in advance.
