Methotrexate help

Hello

Does anyone here take metotraxte and have dry vagina because of it?

Oh boy! I have the same issue but would not have pegged it to methotrexate. I thought it was the change of life thing going on plus I had a hysterectomy.

On the other hand I periodically get some kinda light yellow discharge. It does not have a strong odour and it is not a yeast infection. I've tried to tell my doctor it's due to methotrexate but she says it's not. My ob/gyn did find anything so.......I deal with it.

Hi Lia

I never made the connection either I put it down to age I'm now

58 diagnosed, 14 yr ago so I put it down to my age.

I know MTX causes dry eyes but never made the connection

To anything else.

But could be you're right. You don't mention your age but after

A certain age doctors tend to blame the menopause for

Everything and don't look for anything else.

I am also experiencing this, but thought it was related to menopause. I swear everything happened to my body all at once. I turned 50, and 6 months later hit menopause, then diagnosed with RA 6 months after that. I can't tell what's causing what with my body anymore. Is it age, is it RA? It's driving me mad. I cant get through an hour without a hotflash too, which I think is exacerbated by the RA and the meds. They poo poo it all at the drs office and always say it's menopause, but I don't agree. I see my primary for a physical soon and plan to see what can be done for the dryness. I swear MTX sucks the moisture out of everything - hair, eyes, skin, nails, vagina.... ugh! My relationship with my husband has changed from being very close and active to me shying away from any kind of physical relationship because of this. Sex is very painful for me, and just not fun, because of this and the joint pains. If you come up with any kind of solution (using lubricating gels doesn't help), please share. Sorry if TMI....

**meant to say........ob/gyn did not find anything.......

I don't think it is totally methotrexate though it probably does factor in. I have a co-worker who has the same issue of dryness and painful sex but she does not have RA. She is a couple years older than me and I'm 53.

Thank you so much for bringing up this topic. It helps to know that it is a universal trend.....
