Does anyone feel even more depressed following days after taking Methotrexate. The day after I take it I feel so down and emotional and was wondering if anyone else gets the same.

I think it does give you a hangover kind of feeling - are you splitting your dose into twice weekly half-doses instead of the full dose on one day?  eg 20mg would be split into 10 mg on Mon & Thurs or Tues & Fri evenings?

I don't know how long you have been on it but I did at first, really bad on day 2 and most of day 3. Having been on it for quite a long time now I would say that has definitely lessened. I usually feel a 'bit blue' but not depressed. The MTX don't forget is helping a chronic illness so getting down isn't surprising. Taking the MTX is a reminder and I used to also get so anxious before I took it. As time has gone by this has lessened so much I had to think about it before replying. I hope that it does for you as well.

Hi Lisa, Many thanks for your reply. I have been on it for about year and a half. I think I get down in the dumps and just want to cry all the time.

Dear Leigh

I'm so sorry to hear that. How awful for you. Have you spoken to your consultant about it? He may adjust your folic acid or even try something else. That's not a side effect that improves quality of life. My friend came off of it because of that and I believe went on to Sulfazine. It's definitely worth mentioning

im on methotrexate for proriasis i inject myself every monday & take folic accid on the friday... after injecting i feel sick & very low for several days ... i also have a bad stomache ie diareah for a couple of days ... i cant leave the house

i had my injection yesterday & feel rough as anything today .... i hate the drug i been on it for 18 months now ... i cant wait to stop
