Middle back discomfort- left side

Hi, i have been to my GP about this issue but he wasn't really much help. Every morning this week i have woken up with a dull ache in the middle left side of my body. its noticable when i move and feels like someones poking something with a blunt object. It tends to relieve itself during the day but starts to come back again during the night. its not quite in my back, and i definately think its an organ rather than just a muscle issue. Should i be worried about this or should i take some immediate action?

Keep going back to your doctor until you get answers; see someone else if necessary. However, you shouldn't worry because anxiety will make you feel worse and it won't solve your pain.

Just checking.. Can you recall any recent back injury in the last year or so? Even involving twisting?

Sounds like a thoracic herniated disc.. The pain can be felt exactly here you say if it's involving the 11th or 12th thoracic vertebrae..Do you feel more pain when you cough?

I thought I had a problem with my left kidney and they did all the tests, CT, Ultrasound, Mag3 scan, MRI and found nothing whatsoever and yet I still have pain & discomfort coming from there.. Turns out the Twelfth rib rests against the kidney and I did have a twisting back injury a year earlier Tried to drag a heavy tool chest off a lorry and something in my back went) but I thought it had healed and couldn't possibly be anything to do with the discomfort I am getting in my kidney area a year later but I was wrong & am now awaiting an MRI of my spine. It is worse when laying flat on my back or leaning over the sink doing dishes or whatever.

Of course yours could be anything in that area even kidney stones but I just thought I'd share what has happened with me in case it helps in anyway.

Is it made worse by not eating? Any heartburn, nausea, etc.?
