Middle of the night scares

Hi i have been waking up pretty much nightly and not able to go back to sleep but lately now i have racing heart, tingling hands and sweats. i had a stress test and echo gram which both came back normal. i hate to run to the hospital since im sure its a panic attack. anyone else experience this only at night ? i am 50 , still having periods but very irregular

yes, this is a very normal perimenopause symptom, unfortunately. Cutting out caffeine helped me but did not bring it to an end. Drinking a fair amount of water in the latter part of the day-- stopping about 90 min. before bedtime so you don’t pee all night-- is one of the best things you can do for these symptoms. Exercise also helps, especially weights rather than cardio. Good luck!

Unfortunately these panic anxious feelings are common in peri, I spent a many long night worrying and worrying about my health, I am post meno and these anxious thoughts and panic do go away x

just to be clear, when you wake up at night with a racing heart and tingling hands, this is not a panic attack. It is an adrenal response caused by fluctuating hormones. It is perfectly normal during peri. Others do have anxiety during the day, but you can have this adrenal response at night and not have anxiety symptoms as such. I would try the water and do some simple resistance exercises a few times a week. Also try cutting out caffeine, not looking at screens including phones within 2 hrs of bedtime, and other forms of being relaxed going into sleep. I think the key is to sleep deeply. It is restless sleep that leads to these symptoms, at least in my case. Also not to get agitated when they do happen, but realize it is an ordinary reaction at this time.
