Hi everyone
I have recently had migrain head aches when I wake up. I have done some research and it is because I am sleeping on my back. One of the cures is not to do so. There is no way for me to sleep on my side at the moment. So I am having to sleep almost bolt upright which is also not very comfortable.
Is anyone else suffering with any head aches when they wake up ?
Hi Hailea
I have also been having headaches when I wake though I would not describe as migraine. I had put it down to regular paracetamol as I know if you take it for a while you can get withdrawal symptoms. Interesting you think it's back sleeping, which is horrible isn't it! I get horrendous leg spasms when sleeping on my back too!
Hi Rosie
Yes I know about the withdrawal symptoms of beeing on the pain killers. But I don't get the headaches any other time. I havn't had migrains for years and I havn't changed my dosage of my pain killers. So I am almost sure it wouldn't be withdrawal symptoms. It is happeneing every morning or if I wake up during the night.
Hi Hailea -- I also had migraine-like head aches for a couple of days - I sleep on my side (both) though ... however Dr. changed my pain meds and apparenlty this is one of the effects ... I am back to old meds and problem is solved -
someone told me that I also might have become sensitive to the (rainy) weather ... I hope not ....
big hug

Hi Reenee
I may have to ask about changing mine then just in case it is that, that is causing it.
Oh I hope I am not sensitive to rain. It does nothing but rain where I live,

I live in Holland Hailea - not too bad but certainly more than in Los Angeles where I lived for 34 years -
I live in South Wales UK . We only get 3 weeks of summer here in a year it is either raining hailstones storms or snow. About 5 years back we had hailstones in August.
I often get headaches when I wake up but did so before my op - put it down to my age. They often went as soon as I had a nice cuppa and some breakfast.
I get some now but tends to be evening and I'm sure that they are codeine withdrawal ones.
Hi hailea,
How long since your op? I've been sleeping on my back for 4 long weeks, but today my physio showed me how to roll over onto my side with a cushion between my knees, so now I can sleep on my side. Hallelujah!
I do hope you can get rid of your headaches very soon.

Hi Anne
I don't usually suffer from head aches. Havn't had migrains for years. These are not your regular head aches these are full blown migrains I feel sick and have to sit in the dark till they wear off.
Doesn't sound very pleasant. Perhaps you could ask the doc for something to stop them starting.
Hi Anna
I am 9 weeks ( 10 weeks next Tuesday ) post op on my left hip. But my right hip has collapsed and I will be back in to have that done in three weeks..I have not seen a physio therapist since I left the ward and no one to tell me what I should be doing except the booklet I was given. But now because my hip has collapsed I can't even do some of those excersises.
Oh dear poor you, hope ypu are soon sorted out good luck
I have been intouch with my GP today. They only work 1/2 days on Thursdays so will have to wait till tomorrow and see what she says.
