I had ankle ligament reconstruction surgery in 2007, and it worked and went great! Then I had to go sprain my ankle pretty badly a few months back...I've been seeing my ortho for going on 3 months now Anyway, I inspect my ankles on a fairly regular basis to see how my left (the injured one) compares to my right, and upon last inspection, I noticed something. A protrusion from the malleolus. I was already in pain, since I'm pretty much in pain 24/7, but it was worse, and a sharper pain...so I felt it, and I thought, this is probably a screw. Crap.
So I went to urgent care and both the PA and MD were convinced that's what it is...a screw. So as to not mess it up any more, I'm back in a boot (woohoo!!) and NWB as much as possible -- so pretty much when I go out because I live in a tiny apt and crutches are very hard to maneuver in it and it's literally about 20 feet from my couch to my bed, so not far at all. I'm also out of work unless they can accomodate me NWB which will be super hard since I work in retail...
I'm going to call the ortho in the morning to see if I should come in earlier. I have an appt scheduled for 2 weeks for now, after I get my MRI done. But maybe we can bump the MRI up and the appt as well. I don't know, and that's why I'll be calling.
Looks like I'll probably be having a harware removal surgery How are those? Are they bad?? I really don't want to be facing a second surgery for my ankle. I'm only 26 for Christ's sake!
