Mind constantly racing with thoughts causing Anxiety and Insomnia

Hello all,

I have had an issue lately where my mind feels like it is constantly active and thinking of random things. I have snippets of songs playing through my mind all day, and the best way I can describe it is its like a radio playing in the background with strange thoughts. I feel like I am so absorbed in my own head and thoughts, that I can no longer immerse myself in anything or be myself. This is causing me to get very anxious and I have not been able to sleep properly as of lately and that’s making everything worse. I’m thinking what is the point if everyday I feel like ■■■■ and I am in a constant fight or flight mode from when I wake to when I try to sleep. When I do get to sleep, my dreams are incredibly vivid and I feel like I am in a very light state of sleep. I get up in the morning with my eyes stinging and bags under my eyes, and my head just feels incredibly heavy and foggy.
I have been battling an alcohol problem for some time now and can no longer drink like i used to as I cannot sleep properly after I have. I am on Fluoxetine 20mg and really unsure what to do. Lockdown really doesn’t help and I know everyone is in the same boat, but does anyone have any advise for me?

Thank you.

Hey!

I have the same type of anxiety and honestly the same “song snippet” issue. Recently my lack of sleep has gotten so bad that i wake up and i can barely tell whats reality and what is weird light sleep dream. its had me disassociating daily and zoning out. in the past week what ive found to help me is doing something non technology based before bed like reading or coloring and then playing LoFi, ChillHop, or Piano music before bed and continue it during sleep. Ive also been told by several people to smoke a little before bed and see if it helps, i havent personally tried it but its on my list if things dont fully improve. ive also been told a light dose of melotonin would do the trick but me over here with my anxiety im afraid to do that lol. But youre definitely not alone!
