Minimally invasive bunion surgery ? Big toe position

Hi I have just had a bilateral bunionectomy 6 days ago. I have a k wire splint in position. Both my big toes are pointing inwards ant the gap between the 1st and 2nd toe looks huge! Is this normal? Please reassure me!

Hi just thought I'd query if you live in Australia and had your operation there, as I live in Western Australia and can't find a surgeon here that does the minimally invasive procedure with the K-wire - I am wondering if your operation is also called the Boesch Technique (they a wire too) and recovery time is a lot quicker than the old method.   Will be interested to read your answer about where you have had this done.    Best Wishes Pam

Hi Pam No sorry I don't live in Australia. I live in England and had my op done at Goring Hall hospital in Worthing.

I am pleased to say that even with the knife splint in place the gap between my toes is narrowing slowly which is encouraging.

Hope you find a surgeon who can do it for you.

Hi, you told me you had it done by a surgeon who is actually based in Australia. Since when does Goring Hall offer the Boesch method? Not by Mr Palmer?
