Been on medication for two weeks, now having difficulty with weight gain, any suggestions, please!
Hi - if you go back and look at the other threads under mirtazapine then you will find lots about weight gain and the diet club!
Hi
i's a sedative antidepressant and that's why you're putting on weight. Others, like fluoxetine "pep" you ukp and they're a different "family" of antidepressants. The only advantage I found with Mirtazapine was that it gave me about 7 hours sleep where I didn't have the chronic anxiwty and palpitations, but the disadvantage was that 8 put on two and a half stone in 4 months.
Hello Andrew. I've been on this drug for 3 weeks now and have to say that my apetite is beyond a joke. I can have a bit tea then spend the rest of the evening searching cupboards for anything to eat. I've never been into chocolate but some days i HAVE to have chocolate. It's not logical. I have no idea what to do about it, it's as though I have absolutely NO control over this need for food. I'm seeing a psychologist later this week and intend to ask his advice because I'm struggling to stop increasing weight make me even more depressed than I am already. Nessie91 refers to the sedation which is why my doc put me on Mirtazapine - I was suffering from insomnia badly and have to admit that I'm now getting better sleep but I'm also feeling more depressed, if that makes sense, and my joints feel like I'm 100yrs old. Tonight I can hardly use my fingers to type. Not due to see doc for another couple of weeks but hope these side effects go or it will be a real toss up between these side effects and a good nights sleep. I know I won't have helped you but it's good to know you're not alone with your concerns.
