Mirtazapine for sleep

Hi guys I have recently been given Mirtazapine for my chronic insomnia I was told to.take 15 mg at bedtime but it doesn't seem to work great which was disappointing after hearing how it is super sedating at that dose for many people, I still wake up at least twice a night when I take 15mg, will lowering the dose to 7.5 mg stop me waking up in the night? Thank you.

I doubt it when I first went on them they were 45mg it knocked me out but soon passed I just stopped talking them

I’ve been taking 15mg for about 18 months. To start with sleeping was great. I’d be asleep within half hour of taking and sleep all night. The last few weeks I’ve been waking a couple of times during the night. I still fall to sleep easily but wake around 2-3am I manage to get back to sleep but wake again around 5 and then I’m wide awake. I’ve heard it’s more sedating at lower dose but not sure I can just drop the dose now

I would defo try that it defo helped me sleep. That's why I've got problems now coming off it I struggle too sleep now xx

Hi, I'm like u waking up at least 4 times a night. I have never know to sleep 5/ 7 hours like some people. I have been reading about sleep problems and generally everyone makes up at least twice during they might. Even those who sleep well but they are less aware of it as they sleep fine. I'm now trying to accept that waking up a few times is not so bad and is normal for some. Try to just go with it and eventually u may not make up as much. Thinking about it and worrying that u r waking up just fuels your anxiety about sleep. Acceptance is the key.

I think you are right, I've had insomnia since last year, I cannot remember the last time I had a full hours without waking. Weird thing is I dream a lot and then wake up straight after them, Never used to be a dreamer. Contrary to what people think dreaming sleep isn't deep sleep it's actually in between light and deep. But I must have some deep sleep as there's a next neighbour who has a very loud car engine and he goes off early every morning. But most mornings this noise doesn't wake me up. My girlfriend is up a bit earlier than me and she is surprised it doesn't wake me. Just fed up with waking up a few times before actually getting up. I have the odd night when I only wake up once - maybe sleeping for a couple of hours then waking but then falling back to sleep for about 5 hrs. But that is a rare good night for me. I usually wake every 90 mins or something like that.
