I'm pretty new to all of this - but, my husband was prescribed Mirtazapine and it had the most awful effect on him almost immediately. He was up in the night, very disorientated, saying odd things and he has never been the same since. I wanted the GP to report it
Hi
i!ve been on it for 4 months and all I can say is I get a good night's sleep. I would stop it immediately -phone the surgery first and see if you can get a telephone appointment -or has he a psychiatrist nurse he could phone?
i was on this drug i didnt no who i was or were i was i put up with it 2 mnths telling myself things wud get better sadly they got worse came off cold turkey it was horendouse
Hope you're feeling a bit better. I can't say I'm looking forward to when I've to stop it. Didn't realise the withdrawal symptoms or would never have started it.
Hi Georgina, it will take a short time a week at least for the Mirtazapine to work effectively. From my own experience I sleep well. However, if something has happened to put me, and made me feel like 2 steps back, and my brain starts doing overtime (like a train on a track going faster and faster) then I find it hard to sleep. The tablets are to break the connections of these thoughts and allow the indivdual the time to start putting the puzzle back together again. It can be very frightening when your going through it because you want it to stop, get him to talk to the doctor. And get him to do some relaxation things no matter how small, deep breathing with hand on chest etc. Keep strong, try CBT - also. good luck were all here helping each other xx
