Mirtazepine withdrawal cough

Hi all.

Feeling pretty desperate and needing some answers and reassurance so would be grateful for any replies.

This is mu second attempt in coming off Mirtazepine and I have developed what I think is a withdrawal cough. Its pretty awful. Has anyone else had this problem and did it go away? I also have wheezing, both of which are really getting me down.

Thank you in advance

have you decided to come off Mirtazapin or you’re Dr made the decision ?

Hi thanks for your reply. I had decided to come off myself as it was causing me to gain a lot of weight and impacting on my physical health.

What dosage was you on of mirtazapine and are you tapering off slowly. Are you going to abstain from anti-depressants altogether as Prozac didn’t agree with me once a day in the morning, but when the surgery I’m with amalgamated with another they changed me to mirtazapine 15mg then upped me to 30mg and out of the blue to 45mg at night before bed and find 15 and 30mg didn’t agree with me at all, but the 45mg are fine, I exercise regularly so don’t have problem with weight gain, but I’ve heard there can be a problem with excess weight! But we all individuals and it can effect those differently, but I’m sure 15mg were not for me as my legs were twitching when I woke, told Dr who said he was moving me into 30mg and after 4 months was automatically upped to 45mg and find they ok.. Far better than 20mg of fluoxetine “Prozac” Just thought I’d give you my version, Whatever you decide I sincerely hope it’s right for you and you don’t struggle to much.. :+1:
