225mg venlafaxine and 30mg mirtazapine for last 6 years. Been very effective.

I take Mirt 30 and escitalopram 5 perfect combination for me x

Depression and anxiety. Venlafaxine alone was only partly working so psychiatrist added on mirtazapine.

Hi,

I take 15 mg. Mirtazapine along with 10mg Cipralex. The Mirtaz supports my sleep and I can take an additional 15mg if needed for sleep. In addition to those antidepressants I take 600mg Lithium, as I have bipolar disorder.

thank u karen.  i tried cipralex at the beginning of this ordeal and got incredible anxiety.  everything seems to give me anxiety.. searching for that right combination.

Hello again Suzie,

I have recently started using Clonazapam, as needed, for anxiety. It is a member of the benzodyazipine class of drugs (often tranquillers) and they everntually cause dependancy. I was on the Clonzapam for 15 years, then off for a year (which was difficult) - now the doctor is trying me pnr (as needed) as I have an anxiety disorder (in addition to being bipoloar) - 

 

It sounds like you may need to work with a doc who understands anxiety and depression.

thanks karin.  i definitely have both.  i went to a hospital in order to get to see a psychiatrist.  he just upped the mirtzapine which gave me anxiety on increase and makes me incredibly tired.  i also take clonazapam.  they keep saying i am 'sensitive' to medications. i get anxiety on almost eveything.  i want to add tomthe mirtzapine but i am trying to find a drug i can handle.

Hi Suzie, 

yes I am/was on 15mg Mirt plus 450mg Wellbutrin and 200mg Sertraline, though 450 Wellbutrin is quite high. Usually the max dose is 300mg.

i wonder if i can try wellbutrin.   i am very sensitive, and get anxiety on most meds.  i will ask the dr.

did u get anxiety when you went on sertraline?  that is my problem.. i get extreme anxiety when i tried other antidepressants

I took Venlafaxin for about 11 years but it stopped working.  My GP then tried several different antidepressants but they didn't work.  I was then prescribed 15 Mirt which only worked for 2 months then 30 and 45 but they made me feel awful.

I asked if I could see a Psychiatrist at our local hospital.  She prescribed 15 mg Mirt with 150 Ven.  I said that they had both stopped working in the past and she said that sometimes they are not so good when taken singly but they were good in combination.  That was last July and for the first time in about 3 years I feel completely back to normal.

i have been havinga difficult time.  had 3 hous sleep and that is with something that is supposed to help you sleep.  reduced mirtzapine back to 15 and i will see dr next week.  however, i don't knowhowlongi can handle this

i already suffered greatly with anxiety before starting on sertraline so I can't really say whether or not the medication itself caused anymore anxiety, sorry! It did make me quite twitchy, more so at night and I went through a period of constantly grinding my teeth but both of those side effects have gone down significantly if not all together now. I've been on sertraline now for 7 months.
