moderate to sever knee pain and weakness after jogging

I jogged for the first time in years yesterday evening.  I jogged less than a mile, and felt fine after.  I went to bed, slept through the night, then this morning as I got out of bed, my knee popped and my leg collapsed downward causing me to fall to my knees.  Since then, my knee is swollen, weak and when I try to bare weight I get a sharp sting and then the leg collapses.  Any thoughts?  35 male with history or torn meniscus x3 --the sep surgeries but they were all more than 10 years ago.

Get some medical advice and don't go jogging. After so many years your knee could be worn out and needs an MRI scan

Thanks!  I made an appointment with an Orthopedic Specialist but cant get in to see them until 8/19, meanwhile in all that I read it seems I may have a torn ACL.

oh i hope you havent that is one sore problem .i feel for you  such a young age i myself now that im after so many surgeries think anyone running or jogging to keep fit is so dangerous to your knees sooo much pounding on the ground it catches up with you !! im sorry to sound negative as lots of people love running/jogging  but when i see them around my neighbourhood  i just want to go over to them and plead with them to mind your knees stupid i supose because i doubht i listen to advice on my sport when i was that age  i soo hope its nothing serious but dont try to jog while its paining you good luck

Thanks Linda!  I havent jogged for some years until the other night, and now this issue after my first day of jogging--I will definitely not be jogging or running again--too much impact for my joints--will have to stick to walking and swimming I suppose.  It is no better today, collapses constantly under weight so I am largly favoring it to avoid falling and causing further injury.    Have you ever torn and ACL?

no i have not but when i attended physio at hospital after knee replacement i met a guy there who had torn his acl and had surgery to repair it he was in alot of pain when doing his physio after but he did progress quite well     it looks like you went out cold as they say going back to any excersise is hard on your joints but maybe its cartilage tear i know ive had my leg giving way under me when walking it was very painfull and i was limping badly i hope its ok lrt us know how you get on but in meantime rest up and ice it loads
