We are talking about monovision - might test it with a contact lense.
I am farsighted +2.75 and +4 and 2 for my progressive eyeglasses.
I haven't had my measurements yet.
I think I have astigmatism.
Worn glasses since 13 and Williamstown Ng to wear readers, but I would love to be glasses free for dinner plates and walking around.
Lots of discussions about nearsighted but what about me?
Darn autocorrect! Willing to wear readers!
Monofocal means both iols are set for either distance or for close-up (reading). Monovison means you have one iol set for distance and one set for close-up.
I have monofocal iol's (set for distance). However, I have astigmatism and wanted to try being glasses free. So, two years after cataract surgery I tried monovision contact lenses. Thank goodness I didn't get monovision iols. While the monovision contact lenses allowed me to be glasses free, distance sharpnesss was not nearly as crisp as my progressive lens glasses, to the point of my prefering to wear glasses nearly all the time.
You might want to try out monovision contact lenses before deciding to go with monovision iol implants, so you have a clear understanding of the trade-offs involved. Just my humble opinion. My brother has monvision iols and is quite satisfied, though he uses a pair of cheap WalMart reading glasses at times. However, unlike me, he does not have astigmatism.
