I don't know what's happened but I am now in so much pain all week, but it's not my right knee which I had the TNK on 9 weeks ago!! It's my left knee?
i know I have osteoarthritis in this knee as well but no where near as bad as my TKR knee was!
To be honest I am in so much pain I could cry today! I am hobbling around and everyone thinks it my TKR knee!!
Any ideas anyone?
Pauline.
Sorry Pauline, I'm afraid I can't offer any help just my thoughts going to you. I'm only waiting for my first knee to be done but both are bad so expect to have the same problems when my time comes.
Sympathy and thoughts coming your way though!
Gill X
Hi Pauline, so sorry about this because you have been doing so well. Have you perhaps been using it to support the other one without realising it? I know I have some pain in my unoperated one when I go down steps and as far as I know there was nothing at all wrong with it before. Now I'm worried that mine could go like yours. It never ends does it.
Hello Pauline,
Did you have a scan on your good knee too to see if there was any damage?
If it seemed ok I suspect the pain is from relying on it too much at the moment. Any physio or consultant appointments lined up to check it out?
As far as my knees are concerned, it was a case of they're both as bad as each other, so take your pick.
Oh dear Pauline I do feel for you. Perhaps the other knee is compensating your operated knee, and there has been a lot of rain in the air which doesn't help. This is the problem with this op we think things are getting better and wham something else starts up. I have been able to walk every day this week without any major issues but yesterday my knee started to get really hot and painful, the bed felt as if it was on fire. Not a good night . To day I am giving the walking and excersises a rest to let things settle again. It makes you wonder if we are ever going to feel right again. Best of luck with the knee hope it settles soon love from tucks x
Hi Pauline, how annoying for you! As others say, I expect it's because it's working harder because of the TKR on the other one. It's so unfair though isn't it? I'm similar to you, Tucks. I've been trying to increase the walking and my leg is more sore as a result. It's good to know we're not alone in our suffering but wouldn't it be nice to compare how pain free we all are! Wishful thinking but maybe we'll get there 😊 I hope your knee settles down, Schu, and you get a better day and night, Tucks. Jen x
Thank you everyone, I thought things couldn't get any worse?? Then just to top things off about 1.30pm this afternoon I fell down the bottom six of my stairs with my 20 month grandson in my arms!!
Obviously I was most concerned about my grandson, but luckily he escaped with a red arm? We was very worried he had broken it but thank god I think he is going to be ok?
I managed to twist my TKR knee and bruised all my lower back, sitting here with a nice pack on now, luckily I don't think I've done any further damage than that!!
It took my mind off my problems I can tell you!!!
Wow, you were brave carrying him! Scared to lift anything too heavy at the moment.
What a fright for both of you. Tears all round, no doubt.
Take care.
What a terrible shock for you. You'll feel it a lotl onger than your grandson. He's probably forgotten about it already. Take care. x
Wow, poor you! That must have really shaken you. Glad your grandson is ok. He'll soon bounce back as all little ones do. Just look after yourself - a glass of wine or a G&T later perhaps to help you relax? Jen xxx
yep
, your knew knee is working well but your other knee has been doing work of about 1 and a half knees , so you have had more presure on the none opperated knee , i just did the same and thats what i was told , now ive had both done im even ,perhaps you need to talk to your gp or surgeon and ask about the other knee . hope this helps
ouch , thats my worse worrie , falling over ,good job your little one is ok , i was told that the tkr knee would be very hard to damage, so ice is good ,and i hope you feel better soon and keep your feet on the floor , take care .
Hi Lyn, I haven't had my good knee checked out for a few years now, as
all the focus has been on my right knee?
I was told years ago that I have osteoarthritis in both knees but I have had so many problems with the right knee that I haven't given much thought to the left!!!
i honestly don't want to go through another op so I'm hoping it's just because I have been more dependant on it these last 9 weeks?
Hopefully things will settle down?
Pauline.x
Hi everyone.
Just a bit of an update, had a very bad weekend following my fall Saturday.
Been in more pain since, but it's a different kind of pain?
I really don't think I have done any damage to my TKR , but just to be on the safe side I am going to give the hospital a ring this morning to see if someone can see me?
I am struggling to walk again and every time I use my knee it's so painful?
I think I will have to go back to using my crutches for a while? Good job I hadn't sent them back yet!!
i will let you all know how it goes
Fingers crossed
Pauline.
Morning Pauline,
Do let us all know how it goes, please.
Lynn
fingers crossed and good luck x
Hi Pauline, I am 5 weeks post op and I have been having terrible pain in my good leg since the operation. I was told that it's to do with the nerves in the groin and that the pains will go. My pains are like electric shocks shooting down my good leg and grabbing my good knee, they make me cry out in pain.
They are getting better though, not so frequent. My doctor gave me some tablets for nerve pain called Lyrica.
Good luck, keep moving x
Hi everyone,
Just a little update, managed to get in to see my surgeon Tues, had an examination and some x rays, no damage done to my TKR, just soft tissue !
Has a week of resting up, in less pain now, think things have settled down now?
I feel incredibly stiff though and don't appear to have such a good bend, probably still a bit swollen from the fall?
I have also lost my confidence with stairs , steps and uneven ground but I suppose it's natural following a fall?
Pauline.
Hi Pauline,
Thank goodness you haven't done any damage.
Hardly surprising you've lost your confidence. I'm still ultra careful anywhere outside. I think it's because of the stiffness in the knee that if I were to stumble I wouldn't be able to react quickly.
Oh the joys of getting older!
Glad no damage done. You're bound to be nervous. You'll get your confidence back gradually. It would probably still be stiff even if you hadn't fallen. The stiffness seems to come and go with all of us. Take time and look after yourself. Jen x
