So I had my first OB on November 4-6. Took Valtrex on November 8 and they were cleared by November 11.
The problem is, I’m still experiencing some pain at my vaginal opening. I had some rough sex the day before I suspect my OB started and thought my initial pain was just a tear. I was wrong! Anyway, there is no pain to urinate, but I can feel some sort of sensation whenever I wipe. I would only call it discomfort.
Is this a symptom that just takes time to go away after the initial OB? I do have a follow-up on December 19, but my partner and I are ready to try having protected sex soon. Again, no visible outbreaks, and I checked with a magnifying mirror and high intensity flashlight… LOL!
Thats normal! Even with no visable sores, the skin tissue can still be sensitive around the time of an outbreak. I have genital hsv-1 and my only bad outbreak was the first one. Ive had 1 other obvious OB since and it wasnt nearly as bad.. Sounds like yours was gone pretty quickly which is a good indicator that other breakouts will be very minor! Mine lasted for 2+ weeks even with valtrex… One thing I should mention is that I tear much easier during sex now, but my obgyn swears its unrelated. Just use lube if you are feeling sensitive down there, and give your body time!
