I started sertraline 3 months ago I'm now at 200mg for 2 weeks and they haven't really done anything for me. I'm so miserable about what to do, the pyschartrist told my doctor I should be on venlafaxine. I've got no more fight left to wean off sertraline and start a new one....I feel so detached from everything, weird and a stranger to myself....I'm grieving the old me I lost last summer. My body is here but I'm not here, I think ive lost my soul. Should I give sertraline more time?
Sorry to hear that but how was your increment based as you're on quite a high dose for the timeframe.
I reached 250 in approx 8 months and was the same as you then stopped it abruptly for 3 weeks but the withdrawals were rough. Restarted again at 75 mg . I realised i had upped my doses too soon as i was frustrated with the condition /side effects.
One needs to give atleast 2-3 weeks before upping the dosage.
As per my experience, everyone on sertraline should feel a positive effect on a sustained 150 -175.
Please revisit your dose increments and share it with you doctor.
Also give 200 a week more max since you've been this far.
Hope you will feel better soon.
I was on 50mg for a week then 100mg for 3 weeks then 150mg for 7 weeks and now I've been on 200mg for 2 weeks. I seen a pyschartrist and she said I need to be on venlafaxine but I wanted to see if the sertraline worked first. I've lost hope.
When did you start to feel better?
I didn't knkw this drug can take this long and be so hard with the side effects else i would've definitely avoided it. My doc told me i should start to feel better in a week's time and it's been 8 months and I'm pretty much bedridden.
To cut the long story short, today is my third day on 75 mg and feeling slightly ok. First 8 weeks were horrible, thereafter hard till 26 weeks.
Man this freaking drug is not everyone's cupp a tea but now i can't look back.
I know you're fried but hang for a week or two then see how it goes.
I'm thankful to forums like these who've been great help in these rough times.
I have GAD since childhood and developed fibromyalfia 12 years ago which has been severe for the past 5 years.
Life is tough my friend and many out there are in a worse position than us so be patient either ways is all i can say.
Take care
I'm so sorry for what you have been going through, I hope things work out for you soon. I'll give it a couple of more weeks x
Hi Pamela 100% more time every time you change your dose you are effectively starting again give 200g 3 months then see how you feel, good luck don’t give up xxxxx
Thanks kerry x
Hi I also wonder if you might be upping the dose too quickly. I made this error I think. Each time I increased the side affects started again .....when I stuck to a dose for a good few weeks...8/9 is settled and now feel much better. Best of luck
