So. I’m 5’10. 200 pounds. 25 years old and Male. get that out of the way.
Anywho, I do have anxiety but this particular morning and a few other times before I’ve woken up with this dull pain. like itching in the middle of my chest. I even found myself scratching but it’s not an itch? it’s an ache that I cant figure out. Then of course I started worrying and became short of breathe, sweating, legs shaking etc. Popped and aspirin or whatever, my anxiety really just pisses me off so I have a routine for it lol.. Becomes gross if I think about it. but back to the point. I did take a couple tums and changed position in bed, no relief. it’s been about 20 or so minutes and I still feel it in my chest… Any ideas? it’s a dull feeling from the sternum bone directly up in the middle, all the way to my collar bone.
I have a type of prickly itch that happens around the center of my chest. It goes away whether I scratch at it or even if I apply pressure to the area. It definitely feel under the skin but not deep enough to be at the bone or beyond. I do have chest hair and I am around your weight albeit I am 5’8 and 21.
It could be chest hair as I had a weird feeling on my thigh like something was irritating the area and I found out it was two hairs hitting eachother and it was a very weird sensation. Trust me if you give it an anxious thought your anxiety will probably try and catastrophise it.
I have been on propranolol for a few days and since I know it lowers heart rate I have been thinking every little pain in my chest is my heart getting ready to give our. It went to 42 beats a minute but I keep having to reassure myself its a medication designed to lower the heart rate and blood pressure.
All in all, you are fine and those itches are likely superficial sensations caused by hairs or sometimes just slightly irritated skin (and scratching may make the irritating a little more noticeable later on)
Take care and all the best,
Kyle
