I have been advised to have a steroid injection for Mortons Neuroma. Can anybody tell me if they have had the injection and whether it was successful. Also any side effects from having steroids put into your body?
I had the injections - no help at all. I see others have had brief respite. I suppose they must work for someone, otherwise why suggest it?

Try acupuncture! I’ve been suffering from two neuromas (one between my 2nd and 3rd metatarsals and one between my 3rd and 4th metatarsals) for a year and acupuncture has been the first thing that’s provided some relief from the pain. I had tried the cortisone shots, physical therapy, 4 rounds of the alcohol sclerosing shots, and went through 3 different podiatrists.
Finally I tried acupuncture and after my third session, noticed a huge difference. My foot ached and throbbed a bit while the needles were in, but my acupuncturist reassured me that this is a good thing. It was also a bit achy for an hour or so after and then the pain vanished along with the relentless neuroma pain! It was such a relief. They recommended that I continue with 3 or 4 more sessions once a week and then I can start spacing them out or come as needed. This is also definitely in combination with wearing supportive shoes with insoles – no more heels in my future—but it’s not a bad trade off for being pain-free.
Around when I started acupuncture I also started taking one capsule of Serrapeptase (a natural anti-inflammatory supplement), and upped my MSM and D3 supplements as well.
I whole heartedly recommend this combo or at least acupuncture for neuroma pain relief. I was really at my wit’s end and am so relieved that finally something has helped!
